Another successful USYF Experience powered by Futbol First!
It’s been 4 years since Futbol First and USYF (United States Youth Futsal – member of U.S Soccer) began to collaborate in the development and growth of futsal in the United States and last month both groups came together again to drive home the international experience of USYF in Lisbon, Portugal.
Throughout the past couple of years, Futbol First – the official travel agency for USYF – has participated
in various events that have helped USYF reach their goal of competing internationally while offering the
players a chance to represent their youth division on an international scale. It is because of this that the
the agency also recommended the last two international experiences for USYF in Barcelona (2019) and
Madrid (2021).
Led by the legendary American futsal player Keith Tozer and under the direction and experience of
Futbol First, the players, their trainers, and family members traveled to Lisbon to train and compete against the best futsal academies in the region while also getting the chance to visit the breathtaking
Portuguese capital.
More than 100 players both female and male have represented various categories over the years of 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005-04. The players had the opportunity to visit the training site of two of the most popular teams in the country, SL Benfica and SCP Sporting, while also enjoying a full day of training and matches, similar to the training of SL Benfica’s first team.
Daily training and matches were organized so the teams of the National Youth Selection could have a chance to showcase their skills and elevate their playing level by competing against teams such as the
Regional Selection of Setubal and other clubs such as Os Belenenses, Feijo Futsal, Quinta dos Lombos,
and Leoes do Porto Salvo
“It’s been incredible playing in these training sites and against these teams, the coaches are amazing and
have learned so many new things. I’ve grown so much from this experience and feel so great and can’t wait for the next experience” confirms Lou Ruffien, one of the emerging stars of USYF.
Throughout the week, the players were able to attend a guided tour of the estádio da Luz – official stadium of Benfica, enjoy a match with Sporting, visit the Portuguese Football Federation and discover everything that the city of Lisbon had to offer.
The staff of Futbol First has always been present and ready to support USYF and make sure that the

for the organization and collaboration throughout each moment, without you two none of this would’ve
been possible.
